Ski and Ride Breaks

One of the best perks of working at Mt. Rose is access to the slopes. Three rules apply every time, no exceptions:

  • Get manager or supervisor approval before heading out
  • Clock Out — free skiing or riding on the clock is not acceptable and may result in disciplinary action.
  • Change out of uniform — guests must see a clear line between employee and guest

Some positions require skiing or riding as part of the job. On-duty skiing must be authorized by Mountain Ops Managers and restricted to designated routes only.

Perk Pass & Ticket Incentives

Full-time employees (minimum of 4 shifts/week) are eligible for a Guest Season Pass OR a 3-Pack of Day Tickets. Dependent passes available for children under 26.

Seasonal employees receive 2 tickets upon completion of your first shift worked, plus 1 bonus ticket per 100 hours worked · Hourly Year-round: 10 tickets · Asst. Managers: 14 tickets · Managers: 16 tickets. Applies to Lift Tickets or Wildslide tubing tickets.

Tracking and redemption of comp tickets are logged with HR and pulled directly from the timekeeping system — no manual tracking required on your end. Contact HR to redeem.

Selling comp tickets results in immediate loss of all skiing/snowboarding privileges and disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Partner Resort Skiing

Your employee pass gets you free mid-week, non-holiday skiing at partner resorts. Not applicable to dependent or guest perk passes:

  • Sugarbowl
  • Donner Ski Ranch
  • Granlibakken
  • Homewood

Employee Discounts

  • Retail: 50% off uniform items (black outerwear snow pants, black base layers, and black helmets), 30% off everything else.
  • Food and Bev: 70% off at all lodges on food made in house + bagged chips. Free fountain drinks, coffee, hot tea & cocoa (personal mug/cup required). All other snacks & drinks at normal price. No staff discounts at Higher Grounds or Hela’s Cantina.
    Tuning & Rentals: Free equipment rentals mid-week, non-holiday (subject to availability). 40% off basic repairs.
  • Ski & Ride Lessons: Free group ski and snowboard lessons. Excludes Saturdays and holidays.
  • Ski Team: 50% off ski team products. Reimbursement is not issued until after February 28, 2027 — same deadline and process as the pass refund. A digital form will be available to request reimbursement. Employees must be in good standing and still active.
  • Free Helmet: For outdoor employees only. Request through HR, or purchase one in the Retail shop at 50% off
