Slide Mountain Trail

Saturday, we hit the Slide Mountain Trail for a guided hike led by USFS Educational Ambassador/Ranger Paige.

Along the way, hikers learned more about the plants, trees, and wildlife that call the mountain home, the natural history of the area, how the Forest Service approaches management and education, and Mt. Rose’s own stewardship and sustainability efforts.

We also got a closer look at some of the mountain’s standout plant life, including mountain coyote mint, tobacco brush, red firs, whitebark pines, and our hyper-local Washoe pines.

It was definitely windy out there, but our guests toughed it out and kept the questions coming. We love seeing how curious our community is about the mountain—and the spirit of stewardship they bring to recreating here year-round.
